As part of the agri-food sector, we recognise that it is our responsibility to support the green environment in which Northern Irish agriculture thrives.
Our Environmental Policy is a corporate commitment to work together with our employees, customers, suppliers and appropriate public bodies to achieve this aim.
Our policies are a commitment to development and adopting working practices that will help to have a positive effect, assist in continued environmental improvement, prevent pollution, and reduce any avoidable negative impacts caused by Doherty & Gray’s activities.


Our commitment to a greener planet
Our environmental policy sets out the following objectives to be specifically targeted by the company:
- To involve all employees in the implementation of the policy
- To monitor and meet the requirements of all environmental legislation and regulations
- To reduce waste, energy, water consumption, pollution and noise levels throughout the companies activities, and to ensure waste that does arise is treated and disposed of with minimum adverse effect
- To ensure all purchased equipment, vehicles, buildings and materials are selected to minimise adverse environmental impact
- To ensure that suppliers will meet high standards of environmental performance
How do we do it?
Responsible use of raw materials and packaging.
All pre-packed raw materials supplied to Doherty & Gray Ltd. shall be included in the obligation to recycle packaging.
Doherty & Gray Ltd. have registered with the Northern Ireland Environment & Heritage Services in accordance with the Producer Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999
Utilising green energy
Doherty & Gray Ltd. have signed up to An Underlying Climate Change Agreement for the Meat Processing Sector, Agreement No: BMF /10127.
As part of this, we hold our own wind turbine on site to assist in our sustainable energy production goals.
Also, we continually work to monitor our emissions, to reduce water wastage and to encourage environmentally protective practice in our staff and stakeholders.
